CDPI and GEALC Network Signs Letter of Intent to Drive Digital Transformation Across Latin America and the Caribbean

The Centre for Digital Public Infrastructure (CDPI), a pro bono technical architecture advisory organization within the International Institute of Information Technology – Bangalore (IIIT-B), and the Inter-American Network of Digital Government (Red GEALC) have signed a three-year Letter of Intent (LoI) to foster collaboration in advancing Digital Public Infrastructure (DPI) across Latin America and the Caribbean. The signing ceremony took place at the GEALC Network Annual Meeting in Brasilia on November 27, 2024.

The partnership represents a significant step toward leveraging digital technologies to accelerate inclusive governance and economic growth in the region. Under the terms of the agreement, CDPI will provide pro-bono advisory services to GEALC Network member countries, supporting the implementation and scaling of DPI initiatives that align with global best practices and regional priorities.

Key areas of collaboration:

  • Advisory and capacity building: CDPI will deliver webinars and on-site DPI workshops during GEALC’s annual meetings to share expertise on digital transformation.
  • DPI pilots for regional projects: Up to three cross-border or regional projects per year will benefit from CDPI’s DaaS (DPI as a Package Solution) framework, enabling rapid deployment of scalable and interoperable digital solutions.
  • Technical advisory roles: CDPI will join GEALC’s Ad-hoc Working Groups on areas such as Data Governance, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Identity, and Cybersecurity, providing technical guidance to shape policy and implementation strategies.

This collaboration highlights CDPI’s commitment to promoting open, population-scale digital systems and Red GEALC’s dedication to fostering digital innovation across its member countries. Notably, all activities under the agreement will be conducted on a pro-bono basis, ensuring no financial obligations for GEALC member states.
