The Ministry of Education in conjunction with the Ministry of Information, Telecommunications and Constituency Empowerment have joined forces to secure the professional services of Dominican-born Dr. Laurelle Jno. Baptiste for the hosting of an ICT in Education Symposium later this month.
Dr. Laurelle Jno. Baptiste, a Canadian Government E-Educational Advisor, has worked in education and online learning for over thirteen years. She has built education programs and systems for some of Canada’s largest Corporations such as The Hudson’s Bay Company with 70,000 employees, and BDO Dunwoody, with over 10,000 employees.
Dr. Jno. Baptiste holds a Doctor of Education and Master of Arts degree in Education and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Information Systems, the PMP (Project Management Professional), and MBA essentials. She has won numerous awards for technology and innovation and is an advisor to education institutions and technology associations worldwide.
Dr. Jno. Baptiste is enthusiastic about visiting Dominica to make a profound contribution to the educational development of the people of Dominica particularly the young students.
The three-day symposium to highlight the benefits of Information Communication Technology (ICT) in Education is expected to commence here on Monday, 23rd September.
Following the official opening at the Fort Young Hotel in Roseau on the 23rd, Dr Jno Baptiste is expected to meet with a number of School Principals, Educators and Administrators together with students and young entrepreneurs on the 24th and 25th.
The highlight of these sessions/meetings will be on the importance of and economic benefits associated with education in a highly developed and technologically advanced digital world.
Dr Jno Baptiste will then hold a Lecture at the Open Campus of the University of the West Indies on the evening of the last day of the Symposium on the topic: “Learning in the Digital – the benefits to developing Countries like Dominica”.
The Symposium will end on Wednesday September 25th 2013.
