Caribbean Community (CARICOM) consumers now have access to the CARREX Online Electronic Platform and the live public portal for providing alerts on dangerous non-foods consumer goods on the markets in all fifteen CARICOM Member States. The platform which went live recently can be accessed via www.carrex.caricom.org
Caribbean Courts Need To Be Better Prepared To Judge Cybercrimes
Institutions worldwide are finding it hard to keep up with the rapid pace of advance in computer-based technology. This is all the more so for courts, which are typically steeped in tradition and ponderously slow to change. Globally, systems of justice are struggling to keep track of the sophisticated, rapidly evolving operations of modern cyber crime.
On the occasion of Cyber Awareness Day 2017, Belize this morning took a pioneering step in bringing together a wide cross-section of internet users, regulators, educators, law enforcement officials and even members of various arms of government, including the judiciary, for a week-long symposium to address the pervasive threats posed by cyber-bullying, cyber-crimes and related security threats.
Belize to Host First National Cybersecurity Symposium
In response to a growing incidence of cyber-threats, Belize will host its first national cyber security symposium from April 24 to 27.
OECS ICT Strategy Group Meeting
OECS Member States are taking steps to fully embrace the digital economy. The OECS Commission has formed a special ICT Strategy Group to consider the region’s options for using technology more effectively to facilitate its integration agenda. The group is being chaired by the OECS Director General, Dr. Didacus Jules.
Belize will participate in the Ministerial Meeting
Belize will be represented by Michael Singh, Advisor to the Office of the Prime Minister, in the Ministerial Meeting of Electronic Government of Latin America and the Caribbean and the Annual Meeting of Red Gealc. Carol’s predominant modes of operation are “give a hand” and “expand and enhance”. As an active member in church community and a dedicated civil servant for over 20 years, she has been able to indulge both modes changing the lives of individuals and her country.
Ministers endorse ICT Single Space roadmap
The endorsement was made at a Special Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development held in Barbados on Wednesday, 21 September, 2016. The Hon. Guy Joseph, Minister of Economic Development, Housing, Urban renewal, Transport and Civil Aviation of Saint Lucia chaired the Meeting.
12th Caribbean Internet Governance Forum
The Caribbean Telecommunications Union (CTU) cordially invites you to the 12 th Caribbean Internet Governance Forum (CIGF), which will take place from the 10th to 12th August, 2016, at the Radisson Hotel in Belize City, Belize.
All Internet providers in Belize have come together to form a non-profit company called the Belize Internet Exchange Point (BIXP) in order to vastly improve internet based services in the country. BIXP was launched on Wednesday, April 16, making Belize the only country in the Caribbean in which all Internet providers are connecting at the same exchange point.
