Director general de la OPTIC: tres ejes para el e-gobierno
Durante la conferencia denominada “Las TIC, su impacto en la sociedad y las tendencias en la Educación”, director general de la Oficina Presidencial de Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación (OPTIC), ingeniero Armando García, resaltó como se han fortalecido en República Dominicana los servicios amparados en los tres ejes que sustentan el Gobierno Electrónico: Atención Ciudadana, Buen Gobierno, Transparencia y Participación Democrática.

Tablet in Schools Programme
Minister of Science, Technology, Energy and Mining (STEM), Hon. Phillip Paulwell, is calling for broad-based support for the Tablet in Schools Programme. The Minister said the programme is a major investment by the Government, one that could lead to the unearthing of talent among the country’s young people and play a key role in their future. The first set of computers, earmarked for delivery under the Government’s $1.4 billion Tablets in Schools pilot project, were presented to teachers at seven of the participating institutions islandwide on Monday, July 21. State Minister for Science, Technology, Energy and Mining, Hon. Julian Robinson (photo), said the issuing of the first batch of tablets is a major milestone in the project, which is on target to commence in September.

College Faculty Receive Tablets
One hundred full and part-time faculty members at the Antigua State College (ASC) received Samsung Galaxy tablets and 4G LTE connectivity on Wednesday under the Government Assisted Technology Endeavor (GATE) programme. The move forms part of the government’s thrust to get educational technology into the hands of students and educators across the twin-island state.
