The deadlines for nominations for the new edition of ExcelGOV awards for excellence in e-government called by REDGEALC, OAS and IDRC, there were 75 valid nominations, 12 of them in the m-government category and 63 in the e-government with the citizen at the center.
Of the total, at least 17 are called for special mentions: 6 for open government with open data, 5 for personal data protection and 6 for e-government with gender focus.
The countries that participated were 20. Organized by the number of valid proposals, they were: Colombia (16), Perú (8), México (7), Panamá (7), El Salvador (6), Uruguay (6), Argentina (4), Brasil (4), Trinidad y Tobago (3), Chile (2) Costa Rica (2), Venezuela (2), and with one candidature Antigua y Barbuda, Bahamas, Barbados, Bolivia, Ecuador, Nicaragua, Paraguay and República Dominicana.
The winners of each category will receive, as an award, a technique visit to Canada with all covered expenses for one person and scholarships for the Red GEALC/OAS e-government courses. The special mentions will receive scholarships for the same courses.
Voting will take place in the annual e-gov ministerial and high officials meeting that will be hold this year in San José de Costa Rica and that will be sponsored by the Red GEALC
